"It is the black and gold warbanner of The Hundred; twice it was borne through streets of Corstopitum in barbaric triumph. Now the winds caress it again."
- Father Cynewulf Guthgeorn

The Order Vigilant of Auros and His Most Virtuous Hundred of the Northern Citadel is a military Order pledged to the Bishop of Wessex. As a religious unit of human monks and knights, it has pledged its weapons to defend and expand the true Auran faith through Mercia and beyond, purging Agon of benighted and infidels alike.

In the reign of John Malregard, the Order Vigilant of Auros and His Most Virtuous Hundred was established in order that the blessed word of Auros might reach the heathens of ice-bound Niflheim. When the northern pagans proved violent and unreceptive to peaceful missionary work, the Mercian King granted the Order a royal charter ensuring their right to bear arms, to recruit Mercian knights to their holy work, and to possess themselves of such lands from the northern pagans as they could hold by their courage in battle and by the grace of Auros. They soon established an outpost in that remote land and constructed a great Northern Citadel.

Recently, the Virtuous Hundred faced a cataclysmic reversal of fortunes in its righteous crusade. The two documents on the left hand side were written by members of the Order explain the current crisis that the Virtuous Hundred must overcome.

In short, the Virtuous Hundred must struggle to reclaim what it has carelessly lost: its land, its honor, and the Radiant Lord's divine favor. Auros wills it!

Structure

A Diagram of the Hundred's Structure
A Diagram of the Hundred's Structure

The military of the Hundred is organized into basic units called Echelons, approximately 20 knights in strength. An Echelon Commander is set over each echelon to lead the group into battle as well as manage it outside combat; the EC will choose two officers to help him command and to fill his absence. He may choose to split his force further into ad hoc Lances led by his subofficers, based on his needs and the active strength of his unit at the time.

In overall command of coordinating these Echelons in battle is the Grandmaster, if alive and present, then the Seneschal, and then the Mareschal; should none of these be present, then the Commander of the First Echelon, then of the Second Echelon, etc. In the absence of higher ranks, responsibilities devolve down upon the next lower rank until the Commander of the last Echelon is coordinating his own forces with the highest remaining officers of preceeding echelons as though he were Grandmaster and they were Commanders. This ensures that there is always a unified leadership structure between echelons even when casualties or absences are high.

We don't anticipate being in rigid formations. We'll use small units and proper vent coms in a looser structure, until the ducal garrison can prove that concept with its many skilled members. View us as irregulars in the meantime.

Roma Victor

The Hundred takes its roots from Roma Victor, a game projected to be historically authentic set around the political conflicts between the Roman Empire and the various barbarian tribes and warbands. In there they were a victorious ground who established a lasting fame trailed by tales of success.
